Beverly Frederick of North Rosedale Park saw an issue that needed to be addressed, and simply started to take care of it herself.  According to Mary Lyons, Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator of GRDC, Beverly noticed that several vacant houses on Stahelin Street needed to be mowed, and” just headed over there with her lawn mower”.  This one woman show became a several person mowing crew who will, starting this Thursday, May 15, head over to Stahelin with their lawn mowers to make North Rosedale Park look a bit better.  Beverly’s initiative regularly inspires Charles Subber, James Mallory, and John Hanson to help out, with the ever-determined Clarenda Webb as supervisor.  If you’d like to help out, or if you’d like to meet some terrific people who claim their community as their own and are ready to do what is needed to make it better, join the weekly Stahelin Mower Gang starting this Thursday from 9am-1pm.  Bring your lawn mower, some water to keep you cool, and a sense of pride in your community and its dedicated people.  For more information, or to volunteer, call Mary Lyons at 313-387-4732, ext. 116.
