DIA Masterpieces Come to Grandmont Rosedale

The Detroit Institute of Art’s (DIA) Inside Out program has already brought art to more than 100 Metro Detroit communities over the past six years… and now it’s here in Grandmont Rosedale! In an effort to make the museum more accessible to the public, the Inside Out program brings reproductions of some of the DIA’s masterpieces into outdoor public spaces all across the region. During this 2016 season, nine areas were selected to participate in the program for the first time: Chesterfield Township, Lathrup Village, Springfield Township, Beverly Hills, Commerce Township, River Rouge, East English Village, Ecorse, and Grandmont Rosedale.

“Inside Out has become a key component of the DIA’s community engagement efforts,” said Salvador Salort-Pons, DIA director. “We’re thrilled to share the program with nine new venues next year and expand our partnerships with metro Detroit communities, thanks to continued support from the Knight Foundation.”

Earlier this summer, ten reproductions were installed throughout the Grandmont Rosedale community, along the route of the newly established NeighborWay. Each piece is weather resistant, accessible on foot or by bike, and comes with a plaque describing the art work and the artist. The reproductions will remain in place until mid-October.
