Well it is officially fall! There are a few things that signify the exit of summer and the entrance of fall — the days get shorter, leaves begin to drop, birds began to migrate, and soon it will be winter. For the Northwest Detroit Farmers’ Market the start of fall means the Market season is just about over, but before we go, we have our Annual Chili Cook Off and pumpkin bowling event!

If you have ever been to the Chili Cook Off then you know how much fun it is! If not, then you will soon see. This year’s Chili Cook Off will take place on Thursday, October 6th from 5-7pm at the Northwest Detroit Farmers’ Market.  There are several at-home chefs representing local organizations and agencies such as: Detroit Police Department, Detroit Fire Department, Public Lighting Authority, the neighborhood associations and more. The chef’s prepare their best batch of chili and serve it hot on the spot, in tasting cups. You, the patron, taste the chili and vote for your favorites.  You can purchase 8 taste testing tickets for $10 at the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/11th-annual-chili-cook-off-tickets-27786562356 or pay cash in person.

The market is still looking for additional contestants. If you think you have what it takes to win the People’s Choice Chili Award you can sign up by clicking the following link: https://goo.gl/xPN9sF

We have had tremendous market season and we look forward to going out on a good note. Thanks and always, we appreciate your support.
