In an effort to reduce litter and illegal dumping in the community, the Grandmont Rosedale Beautification Task Force is launching an anti-litter campaign called “Love Where You Live” (LWYL) on March 23. Modeled on a successful campaign in England, LWYL aims to inspire, encourage, and enable us to make where we live, work, and play the kind of place we want it to be.

LWYL is based on five key principles:
(1) Encourage personal responsibility and positive action,
(2) Work in partnership with neighbors to reduce litter,
(3) Take responsibility for keeping your own immediate area clean,
(4) Raise awareness and education about the prevention of littering,
(5) Make it easy for people not to drop litter.

The Beautification Task Force plans an ongoing series of activities and opportunities that will allow everyone in the Grandmont Rosedale community to get involved. It’s simple – it’s easy – a clean environment makes us all feel great…hey! Love where you live!

HELP LAUNCH LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE

To launch their campaign, the Beautification Task Force invites you to join them on Saturday, March 23 in a massive, volunteer-driven first annual “Grand River Clean Sweep.” Neighbors and businesses will unite to sweep, weed, scrub, pick up trash, and just generally make the whole street clean. Other clean-up activities will also occur throughout the Grandmont Rosedale community on Launch Day. To sign up to volunteer, call Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator at 313-387-4732, ext. 116 or email cneblett@grandmontrosedale.com. Volunteers will meet at the GRDC building at 9:30 AM to receive clean-up instructions & supplies.

SIGN THE PLEDGE

Can’t make it on March 23? No problem! You can still join the campaign. You can sign a pledge card (a promise to be litter-free), and in exchange for your pledge to keep Grandmont Rosedale clean, you will receive a LWYL gift (while supplies last). Pledge cards will be available at the GRDC office (19800 Grand River), starting March 25. Pledge cards will also be available at our info booth during Launch Day on March 23 at the Grand Land parking lot from Noon to 2 pm.

DONATE YOUR RETURNABLE BOTTLES TO THE CAUSE

To raise funds for the LWYL campaign, the Beautification Task Force will be accepting your returnable bottles at GRDC during the second week of March (3/11 – 3/15). Bring your clean bottles and cans, bagged in plastic bags, to the GRDC building (19800 Grand River Ave) during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.

SIGN UP TO BE A STEWARD FOR LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE

If you would like to be an anti-litter steward for Love Where You Live, we urge you to sign up for a one-hour litter disposal shift (1 hour shifts are available at vary times). Please contact Chelsea Neblett at call 313.387.4732 x 116 or email cneblett@grandmontrosedale.com to see where you are needed most. Stewards will be matched up with a buddy for their one-hour shift.
