The Grandmont Rosedale community kicked off the New Year with a brand new title: Curbed Cup Neighborhood of the Year! The community snagged the 2012 “Curbed Cup” in Curbed Detroit’s 2nd annual online voting competition, defeating 15 other neighborhoods and crushing Downtown in the finals with a whopping 73% of the vote. That Grandmont Rosedale could beat out the likes of Corktown, Midtown and Downtown, may have come as a surprise to some, but not to Grandmont Rosedale residents. One resident of the community commented on the Curbed website: “I love walking through this friendly and interesting neighborhood. People greet each other and make small talk. We share ideas about the grass, kids, community issues or efforts to better work together to get things done. I have lived here over 30 years and still feel blessed to be among good-hearted and progressive people.” We couldn’t agree more.
