The 3rd Annual North Rosedale Park Civic Association Chili Cook-off will take place this Saturday, October 5th. Located at the Community House, 18445 Scarsdale St, the event starts at 1 PM with judging beginning 1:30 PM and lasts until 3 PM.  For only $1 you get three tastings, although it will be hard to stop there! Tasting tickets are on sale during the event. Don’t miss this chance for community fun.

Official Rules are as follows:
1. Any type of chili is acceptable. Chili is defined as any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with red chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients including beans. Vegetarian chili is also allowed.
2.  All chili must be homemade by the contestant whose name is registered for the cook-off.
3. All chili must be precooked before arriving at the cook-off and in your own heating receptacle, preferably a crock pot. Electrical outlets will be provided.
4. You must have five at least (5) quarts of chili available.
5. A list of ingredients must be posted at your station.
6. The $5 entry fee must be made prior to the event to reserve your spot in the contest. Drop off your payment in the North Rosedale Community House mailbox at 18445 Scarsdale, Detroit, MI 48223
7. Contestants are responsible for supplying all of their own cooking and serving utensils.
8. The cook off committee will supply all tasting cups and spoons.
9. Prizes will be awarded based on 75% of judges scoring and 25% of “people’s choice” scoring. Judges will be told that they should vote for the chili, based on the following major considerations: good chili flavor, texture of the meat, consistency, blend of spices, aroma and color.
