What if you didn’t know when you might eat next? For the 220,000 children in southeastern Michigan who receive free or reduced-price lunches during the school year, the summer break can be an uncertain time.
But through a partnership with Michigan No Kid Hungry, we can make sure those kids get the nutritious foods they need. Through free summer food “Meet Up and Eat Up” sites, children younger than 18 can get a tasty lunch and hang out with their friends.
There’s no application – all you have to do is show up at one of the hundreds of sites throughout southeastern Michigan. It’s as easy as texting FOODMI to 877877 or calling 2-1-1 to find the site nearest to your home. For a full list of locations throughout Michigan, please see the interactive map here: http://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/schoolnutrition/
