Mark your calendars and join us on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 4 pm for the Winter edition of Grandmont Rosedale SOUP. This month’s SOUP event is relocating to New St. Paul Tabernacle Church of God in Christ at 15340 Southfield (access from Archdale). Just $5 at the door will get you a bowl of soup, a salad and a vote for your favorite community improvement project! Guests will also enjoy a special musical performance (singer to be announced) during the event and can partake in our hot chocolate bar as well.

Here’s a brief description of what projects you can expect to hear about at the next SOUP:

YOUTH CHESS MASTER’S PROGRAM

Funds will be used to provide ten scholarships to Grandmont Rosedale youth to participate in a chess program at the North Rosedale Park Community House.

NEW FENCE FOR THE COMMUNITY GARDEN

Funds will be used to purchase new fence materials for the Grandmont Rosedale community garden, as the current fence is rotting and in a state of disrepair.

MARKET BOOKS

Funds will be used to pay for shipping costs for approximately 1,000 otherwise free books to distribute during special monthly literary events at the Northwest Detroit Farmers’ Market.

SOUTHFIELD SERVICE DRIVE BEAUTIFICATION

Funds will be used to purchase ground covering plants to install at Lyndon Ave and the Southfield Service Drive.
