Vacant Property Task Force Hosts Successful Fundraiser
Sunday afternoon March 17, the Vacant Property Task Force hosted a benefit performance of Park Players’ Dreamgirls. With a great performance, good food and full house, the event was deemed a smashing success.

Proceeds from the March 17 performance support the Grandmont Rosedale Vacant Property Task Force, a group of dedicated resident volunteers working to address problems associated with abandoned homes in the community. Donations of cash or refreshments are also welcome

A former resident and older friend of mine who lived on Rutland was always telling me, “If you’re interested in the history of Grandmont, you should go talk to Mr. Erwin! He’s lived here a long time.” Finally school was over for me and I was very happy to spend an afternoon with the Erwins.
Mr. Erwin was born in 1899. His family owned the original section that became Selfridge Air Field. He grew up there until his family sold the property to the U.S. government in 1915. He completed two years at U of M, Ann Arbor in electrical engineering in 1920 and went to work as a follow-up service engineer for Underwriters Laboratories, where he stayed for 45 years until his retirement.
"LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE” ANTI-LITTER CAMPAIGN
In an effort to reduce litter and illegal dumping in the community, the Grandmont Rosedale Beautification Task Force is launching an anti-litter campaign called “Love Where You Live” (LWYL) on March 23. Modeled on a successful campaign in England, LWYL aims to inspire, encourage, and enable us to make where we live, work, and play the kind of place we want it to be.
