The Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation is a non-profit, community-based organization working to preserve and improve the Grandmont Rosedale Neighborhoods of northwest Detroit. We take a comprehensive approach to community revitalization, with programs designed to renovate vacant homes, assist local homeowners and businesses, beautify our community and keep our neighborhoods safe and vibrant.

GRDC is pleased to announce the selection of Sherita Smith as its new Executive Director.  Sherita will fill the vacancy created by Tom Goddeeris’ departure to join Detroit Future City as Director of Community and Economic Development.  For more information on this transition click here.

Home Buyer Program: We acquire vacant and dilapidated houses and transform them into fully renovated homes. These homes are sold to new families that will own and care for them for years to come. Contact: Tom Ridgway at

Vacant Property Maintenance and Code Enforcement: Working closely with resident volunteers, we monitor vacant homes in our community with the goal of ensuring that every property is properly maintained. To get involved or to report a vacant house on your block, contact Chelsea Neblett at

Commercial Revitalization: GRDC works to support local businesses and encourage new businesses to locate within the Grandmont Rosedale community. If you are looking for space to lease or resources to grow your business, contact Larissa Carr, GRDC’s Economic Development Program Manager at

Grand River WorkPlace: WorkPlace is a co-working facility and small business incubator that offers flexible, affordable office space for small businesses and independent workers. Contact Larissa Carr at to see if this is the place for you.

Neighborhood Beautification – Each year we organize hundreds of volunteers to pitch in and help keep our neighborhood clean and beautiful. Whether we are planting trees, cleaning up a park or painting over graffiti, we strive to keep our public spaces as beautiful as our houses. Contact Volunteer Coordinator Christopher Rodriguez at

Community Security Initiative — Safety is important to everyone, no matter where they live. GRDC is coordinating efforts to improve public safety across our five neighborhoods. Contact Community Security Manager Chelsea Neblett at

Northwest Detroit Farmers Market – GRDC organizes a weekly farmers’ market right here in our community. The market features a wide variety of produce, dairy products, baked goods and other fresh healthy foods grown or made in southeast Michigan. Contact Chelsea Neblett at

Adopted by the community in 2012, the Grandmont Rosedale Quality of LIfe Plan lays out concrete steps toward improving the quality of life in our community over the next 3-5 years. The plan lays out strategies for neighborhood stabilization, commercial revitalization, public safety, beautification, placemaking, youth development and community engagement. View the whole plan here.
