Most owners of older and historic homes and small commercial buildings want to maintain and preserve their properties’ historic character, but often don’t know how. These same owners want to boost their energy conservation and better understand lead-based paint hazards. If you are such an owner, come and meet with preservation professionals who will discuss these challenges and offer information and demonstrations to help you.
The Michigan Historic Preservation Network, with support from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and the State Historic Preservation Office, is excited to present a daylong workshop that provides a historic preservation primer that will arm you with tools and techniques to apply to your historic properties. The workshop will cover such topics as wood window and plaster repair, masonry cleaning and restoration, weatherization techniques, and education on dealing with lead-based paint.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 28th at the All Saints Neighborhood Center (8300 Longworth) in Southwest Detroit. Morning coffee and boxed lunches will be served and there will be time to network with other attendees and preservation professionals.
