The Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation turns 25 this year and we want everyone in the community to come out and celebrate with us!  GRDC has grown from an all-volunteer organization that renovated one house in its first year, to a 9-employee organization, (with several interns and contractors), whose initiatives reach far beyond the renovation of homes.  To date GRDC has renovated and sold 84 homes and two commercial buildings.  GRDC is currently renovating several more homes and has begun work on the Grand River Workplace at 19120 Grand River.  GRDC has removed graffiti from hundreds of buildings and boarded up and maintained hundreds of vacant houses.  Our Grand River streetscape has improved due to GRDC’s initiative and over 1,000 trees have been planted throughout the Grandmont Rosedale community due to GRDC’s partnership with The Greening of Detroit.  Our community has become safer and more secure thanks to GRDC’s Community Safety Program which holds monthly Neighborhood Safety Meetings, distributes Crime Tips via the GRDC eblast, maintains ongoing coordination with local police, offers a crime alert system and just this year succeeded in getting the City Council’s unanimous approval for the Special Assessment District.  GRDC has supported new businesses in our community by providing financial and advisory resources and has brought both a Farmers’ Market and a Summer Arts Program for Youth to our neighborhoods!

While it’s clear that GRDC has been working hard for 25 years, GRDC knows that none of this would have been possible without the dedicated help from hundreds of community volunteers.  That’s why you’re all invited to our anniversary celebration.  We can accomplish great things indeed when we work together, but it’s also important to take a moment to put down our shovels, pull up a chair, and just enjoy each other’s company and the feeling of a job well done.  So mark your calendar for Saturday, July 12 from 11am – 3pm.  Hop in your car, on your bike, or lace up your shoes and head to Ramsay Park on Longacre between Grand River and Ray Monnier and celebrate your community with the people who make it a great place to live, your neighbors.

GRDC would like to thank our sponsors for our day of picnic food, kids’ activities, live entertainment, and more:  Platinum Sponsor:  Quicken Loans; Gold Sponsors:  MSHDA and Bank of America; Silver Sponsors: Comerica Bank, Flagstar Bank, PNC Bank, Macedonia Baptist Church; Bronze Sponsors:  FirstMerit Bank, LISC Detroit, and Wells Fargo.  Thanks also to the Grandmont Rosedale neighborhood associations who contributed to our anniversary celebration.
